Hi coilers.
I have just completed a 9 kv srsg coil with a flat pancake primary, and can get about 6 inch streamers.
I am wondering if anyone knows if this is about the limit of output I can expect, and also, if I could
get increased streamer lenght by converting to a conical style primary?  Cap is mmc type, and runs
smoothly, also have tuned coil by tapping primary to max. output, and tuned srsg by rotating flying
electrodes for max.  Anyone have any answers??

6" streamers doesn't sound bad. I get 4" from a 12kV/30 mA NST with .007 mf cap. My primary is out of tune. Sad

9 kV, I've found, is just barely enough for a spark gap.  12 kv NST's  are more sure. I can run two  1/8" gaps reliably with mine. Wink

To answer your question, we need to know More--your total capacitance, number of turns in Secondary,  etc.

Got to:http://www.teslacoildesign.com/#design , there is a formula somewhere for max output using your design. Smile
