I am going to try an restore a Steve Karkus conical Tesla coil used on stage and the movies. Anyone know if they are normally run as an Oudin coil? Thanks, Owen-

Beautiful coil!!!!  I am working on making a similar coil.
It should work fantastic as a Oudin Coil.  Typically the bottom the secondary would be "grounded" (use the term loosely) to the innermost turn of the primary coil.

Thanks Jeff, that is kind of what I am thinking of doing.
I hope to be testing it next month, weather permitting.
