Disney Channel has been featuring animated Tesla Coils all over the place for "October Takeover".  There are bipolar sparks between two torroids on towers and unipolar sparks in another shot.  All done digital (anyone know by whom?).
Very interesting though in the animation, the sparks contain both sparks and a bluish purple "effluve" accompanying them, as well as branching brush discharges issueing from both terminals on occasion where the discharge isn't bridging the gap completely...(!)  Someone did a nice job and some research for those quick blips...

These are typically shown in my area between Hannah Montana  Tongue and Wizards Of Waverly Place  Grin episodes... Cool

Those clips are from the kVA Effects collection at Artbeats (www.artbeats.com) a stock photo and video company. We used the SG10-TC and SG20-TC for most of that HDV collection.

The collection was shot on "black screen" so digital artists can use the "luminance" channel to mask the arc action into a video composition.

We also did a custom sound collection for Disney that they use in their theme parks around the World whenever arcs or sparks are used.

Hi Jeff,
Nice sparks indeed @ http://www.artbeats.com/footage/search?keywords=kva+effects . Thanks for sharing link. Always nice to have a good camera for sparks pictures.  I like the sparks in the fog, thinking of getting a fog machine for the W.W.T. next year.

There are three types of commercial foggers:

1. Oil - Most common nightclub type fogger. Used for "atmospheric" fog. Not good for TC use because precipitate can accumulate on TC secondary and cause breakdown. Use sparingly for a general haze effect if at all.

2. CO2 - i.e dry ice in hot water. Heavy fog best used for ground effect. OK for TC use but can easily hide arcs.

3. N2 - Expensive because of liquid nitrogen handling requirements but produces amazing blue glow in presence of TC arcs. Of the three, this was the type of fog most used on the Artbeats shoot.

Hi Jeff,
Good input thanks. Would the water based foggers work @ http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-CHAUVET-HURRICANE-H-1100-FOG-SMOKE-MACHINE-REMOTE-/300581360076?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45fc0b91cc for tesla coils?
