Colorado Springs’ Unique Climatic Possession

October, 1899
Page number(s):
6

Time and space do not permit the discussion of the many other factors which give Colorado Springs its unique climatic possession; for instance, the influence of the far-distant Pacific Ocean on the West and the Gulf of Mexico on the south. There is, moreover, a wide field for speculation as to the influence of the peculiar and intense electrical phenomena exhibited in this vicinity, which we hope that our distinguished visitor, Nikola Tesla, will shortly elucidate for us. We physicians are cognizant of many nervous disturbances of the human economy of whose exact causes we can but vaguely guess. Those who come to us in depressed health usually experience the effects of a powerful climatic tonic, while those who seek these regions for rest and recreation at all seasons of the year, if they have been prudent in their food and exercise, as a rule return to their homes refreshed and strengthened and with pleasant memories of their sojourn in this happy clime.
