June, 29th:  Sculpture Unveiled In Vienna


In 1924 Tesla met the internationally renowned Croatian sculptor Ivan Meštrović, who became a close friend to Tesla. Tesla later asked Meštrović to create a sculpture of him. Meštrović agreed and initially two bronze busts were created. The first was unveiled by his nephew, Sava Kosanović, at the Technical Museum in Vienna (Technisches Museum, Wien). The second was given to the Tesla Museum in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, and remains on display to this day.

October, 22nd:  Planet Named After Tesla


Minor planet #2244 was discovered and named after Tesla by M.B. Protitch in Belgrade.

Tesla Estate Sent To Belgrade


After constant pressure from Sava Kosanović, Tesla's nephew, arrangements were finally made and Tesla's entire estate was shipped to Belgrade. The contents included original papers, thousands of letters, photographs and most of Tesla's inventions including the remote-controlled boat, wireless fluorescent lamps, motors, turbines, etc. The estate was shipped in 80 trunks marked N.T.
