The commemorative plaque honoring Tesla at the Wardenclyffe site. Wardenclyffe as it may have appeared when the plaque was dedicated. Yugoslavian 5 dinar stamp designed by Andreja Milenković. The second of three Tesla monuments designed by Frano Kršinić. The plaque on the base of the Tesla monument on Goat Island.

July, 7th:  Wardenclyffe Plaque Dedication


In cooperation with the Brookhaven Town Historic trust, an historical marker was dedicated and placed near the entrance of the Tesla Wardenclyffe Laboratory building in Shoreham, Long Island, New York. The plaque, donated by Yugoslavia, bore the following inscription: IN THIS BUILDING DESIGNED BY STANFORD WHITE, ARCHITECT NIKOLA TESLA BORN SMILJAN, YUGOSLAVIA 1856, DIED NEW YORK, U.S.A. 1943 CONSTRUCTED IN 1901-1905 WARDENCLYFFE, HUGE RADIO STATION WITH ANTENNA TOWER 187 FT. HIGH (DESTROYED 1917), WHICH WAS TO SERVE AS HIS FIRST WORLD COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM. IN MEMORY OF 120TH ANNIVERSARY OF TESLA'S BIRTH AND 200TH ANNIVERSARY OF U.S.A. INDEPENDENCE - July 10, 1976

July, 10th:  Yugoslav Stamp Issued


Yugoslavia issues a 5 dinar stamp marking the 120th anniversary of Tesla's birth on July 10, 1856. Designed by Andreja Milenković, it carried an image reflecting the Tesla monument in front of the Electrical Engineering Facility in Belgrade against a background of Niagara Falls.

July, 24th:  Goat Island Monument Unveiling


The second of three monuments created by Croatian sculptor Frano Kršinić was donated by Yugoslavia for placement on Goat Island in Niagara Falls, New York.
